Description: A moderately strenuous walk from the historic town of Chard up into the Blackdown Hills, to Wambrook's wooded valley and flint and thatch cottages.

Interesting points: Chard is celebrated for the purity of its springs, which rise at the top of the street, flowing on both sides, and is conveyed by conduits for public use (Hunt's Directory on Chard 1848).
Fore Street still has running water in rills, the northern stream eventuallyflows to the Bristol Channel, the southern stream to the English Channel.
Chard has an interesting history, which includes being the birthplace of unmanned powered flight. Chard museum at the top end of the High Street, has fascinating exhibits on this and other local history.
Local flint (chert) has been used widely as a building material in the area, and is noticable on the pasture fields near Combehays pit.
