Church & Countryside Walks

22 routes in Somerset and Dorset

A pack of circular walks has been produced to encourage access and contact with rural communities, by providing interesting and rewarding walks through some of our finest countryside.

The Church Walks Passport that is included in the pack can be stamped at each of the churches mentioned or at the village pub or shop. The stamp designs have been created by school children who live in the many villages.

Times given are for walking only and you should add time for viewing churches and refreshment stops. Distances are in miles and yards.

We hope you enjoy exploring this beautiful corner of England.

Foreword By Ranulph Fiennes

After 35 years of wandering the globes remotest spots and marvelling at the raw power of nature on great glaciers and violent rivers, I still find the greatest pleasure of all is ambling through the countryside of Great Britain from John O’Groats to Land’s End.

Maybe I am biased for I live in Exmoor National Park but my very favourite region of all is West Somerset.

I am confident that any reader who follows these walks will savour delightful vistas and happy days to rival those of anywhere on God’s earth. I trust you will agree with me, as you walk, that we are very fortunate to live in this wonderful country.
